Connect SWELL to Claude
Connect SWELL to Claude
Use Claude (or other AI assistants that support custom connectors) to work with your SWELL data in plain English. You can ask Claude to list contacts, create invoices, search projects, manage tickets, and more—all through chat.
What you need
- A SWELL account at dashboard.swellsystem.com
- A Claude account (claude.ai or Claude Desktop)
- Your organization must have the Claude connector enabled (the connector URL is provided by your SWELL administrator)
Step 1: Generate your connector URL in SWELL
- Log in to SWELL at dashboard.swellsystem.com.
- Go to Settings (click the gear icon or your workspace name in the sidebar).
- Open the API & Webhooks section.
- Find Connect to Claude.
- Click Generate connector URL.
- Copy the URL that appears (it will look like
https://mcp.swellsystem.com/mcp/...).
- Important: This URL is unique to you. Do not share it. If you need to revoke it later, use Revoke connector and generate a new one.
Step 2: Add the connector in Claude
- In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors (or click the + in the chat and choose Connectors).
- Click Add custom connector (or Manage connectors → + → Add custom connector).
- In the dialog:
- Name: Enter a name (e.g. SWELL).
- Remote MCP server URL: Paste the connector URL you copied from SWELL.
- Leave OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret blank.
- Click Add.
Step 3: Use SWELL in your chat
- Start or continue a conversation in Claude.
- Open the Connectors menu (e.g. click + next to the message box).
- Turn on the SWELL connector for this chat.
- Ask Claude to do something with your SWELL data. Examples:
- "List my contacts."
- "Show me open support tickets."
- "Create an invoice for Acme Corp for $500."
- "What projects are in progress?"
- "Add a new contact: Jane Doe, jane@example.com."
Claude will use your SWELL data according to your permissions. Results are based on your account and workspace.
Revoking or changing your connector
- In SWELL: Settings → API & Webhooks → Connect to Claude → Revoke connector.
After revoking, the old URL will stop working. Generate a new connector URL if you want to connect again.
- In Claude: Customize → Connectors → find SWELL → disconnect or remove the custom connector.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid or expired connector token"
Generate a new connector URL in SWELL and update the custom connector in Claude with the new URL.
- Claude says it can’t reach the connector
Check your internet connection. If your organization runs the connector on a private URL, make sure you’re on the correct network or VPN.
- Claude doesn’t see my data
The connector uses your SWELL user and workspace. You only see data you have access to. If you use multiple workspaces (tenants), ensure you’re in the right one in SWELL when generating the URL.
- I don’t see "Connect to Claude" in Settings
This feature may need to be enabled by your SWELL administrator. Contact your admin or support.
Security and privacy
- Your connector URL is tied to your SWELL user. Anyone with the URL could access SWELL as you until you revoke it.
- Keep the URL private. Revoke it if you think it was shared or compromised.
- Claude sends requests to the connector service, which then calls SWELL on your behalf. Data is not stored by the connector beyond a short-lived cache for performance.
