Why Import Sample Data?
Sample data helps you:
- Understand Structure: See how data is organized
- Learn Workflows: Follow example processes
- Explore Features: Discover capabilities you might not know about
- Practice Safely: Experiment without affecting real data
When to Import
Best Times:
- Right after signup (during onboarding)
- When learning a new module
- Before training team members
- When evaluating features
You Can:
- Import at any time
- Delete sample data later
- Re-import if needed
- Mix sample data with real data (not recommended)
How to Import
During Onboarding
- After creating your account, you'll see the onboarding welcome page
- Click the "Import Sample Data" button
- Wait for the import to complete (you'll see a loading indicator)
- You'll be redirected to explore the data
Note: The import process may take 30-60 seconds. Don't refresh the page during import.
After Onboarding
If you skipped sample data during onboarding:
- Go to Settings → Data Management
- Click "Import Sample Data"
- Confirm the import
- Wait for completion

Contacts (10-15 examples):
- Various contact types (customers, prospects, vendors)

Companies (5-10 examples):

Deleting Sample Data
When you're ready to remove sample data:
Option 1: Delete All Sample Data
- Go to Settings → Data Management
- Click "Delete Sample Data"
- Confirm deletion
- All sample records are removed
Option 2: Selective Deletion
Delete sample data module by module:
- Go to the module (e.g., CRM → Contacts)
- Filter or search for sample data (often has "Sample" in name)
- Select items to delete
- Click "Delete"
Warning: Deletion is permanent. Make sure you've learned what you need before deleting.
Best Practices
- Import Early: Import sample data right after signup
- Explore Thoroughly: Take time to explore all modules
- Take Notes: Document workflows you want to replicate
- Delete When Ready: Remove sample data before adding real data
- Re-import if Needed: You can always import again
Troubleshooting
Import Failed?
- Check internet connection
- Ensure you have sufficient permissions
- Try again (imports are idempotent)

Can't See Sample Data?
- Refresh the page
- Check module is activated
- Verify import completed successfully
- Check filters/search settings
Want to Re-import?
- Delete existing sample data first
- Then import again
- Or import will skip duplicates
