Importing Sample Data

Why Import Sample Data?


Sample data helps you:

  • Understand Structure: See how data is organized
  • Learn Workflows: Follow example processes
  • Explore Features: Discover capabilities you might not know about
  • Practice Safely: Experiment without affecting real data


When to Import


Best Times:

  • Right after signup (during onboarding)
  • When learning a new module
  • Before training team members
  • When evaluating features


You Can:

  • Import at any time
  • Delete sample data later
  • Re-import if needed
  • Mix sample data with real data (not recommended)


How to Import


During Onboarding


  1. After creating your account, you'll see the onboarding welcome page
  2. Click the "Import Sample Data" button
  3. Wait for the import to complete (you'll see a loading indicator)
  4. You'll be redirected to explore the data


Note: The import process may take 30-60 seconds. Don't refresh the page during import.


After Onboarding


If you skipped sample data during onboarding:


  1. Go to SettingsData Management
  2. Click "Import Sample Data"
  3. Confirm the import
  4. Wait for completion


What Gets Imported


CRM Module


Contacts (10-15 examples):

  • Various contact types (customers, prospects, vendors)
  • Different industries and locations
  • Complete contact information
  • Custom field examples


Companies (5-10 examples):

  • Company records with details
  • Industry classifications
  • Size and revenue information
  • Relationships to contacts


Leads (5-10 examples):

  • Leads in different pipeline stages
  • Various sources (website, referral, etc.)
  • Assigned to different users
  • With notes and activities


Finance Module


Products (10-15 examples):

  • Service offerings
  • Product catalog items
  • Different pricing models
  • Categories and descriptions


Invoices (5-10 examples):

  • Draft invoices
  • Sent invoices
  • Paid invoices
  • Different statuses and amounts
  • With line items and products


Projects Module


Projects (3-5 examples):

Study Data Structure

Deleting Sample Data


When you're ready to remove sample data:


Option 1: Delete All Sample Data


  1. Go to SettingsData Management
  2. Click "Delete Sample Data"
  3. Confirm deletion
  4. All sample records are removed


Option 2: Selective Deletion


Delete sample data module by module:


  1. Go to the module (e.g., CRM → Contacts)
  2. Filter or search for sample data (often has "Sample" in name)
  3. Select items to delete
  4. Click "Delete"


Warning: Deletion is permanent. Make sure you've learned what you need before deleting.


Best Practices


  1. Import Early: Import sample data right after signup
  2. Explore Thoroughly: Take time to explore all modules
  3. Take Notes: Document workflows you want to replicate
  4. Delete When Ready: Remove sample data before adding real data
  5. Re-import if Needed: You can always import again


Troubleshooting


Import Failed?

  • Check internet connection
  • Ensure you have sufficient permissions
  • Try again (imports are idempotent)
  • Contact support if issue persists


Can't See Sample Data?

  • Refresh the page
  • Check module is activated
  • Verify import completed successfully
  • Check filters/search settings


Want to Re-import?

  • Delete existing sample data first
  • Then import again
  • Or import will skip duplicates
