Setting up a custom domain SSL certificate on cloudflare for subdomains

For subdomains of your domain, it might be best even required to use cloudflare if your domain manager doesn't use domain flattening for your subdomains. Cloudflare is a service that allows for managing domain and resources on your website and has a free plan that is all we would need for this article.

Go to cloudflare and create an account
Add your site (domain). you will need to make sure you have all your dns records under cloudflare and then complete the setup by changing your nameservers to point to cloudflare
After setting up your domain successfully in cloudflare, add a CNAME record for the subdomain or domain that you are pointing to swell. The value of this subdomain will be app.swellsystem.com. so subdomain.yourdomain.com will point to app.swellsystem.com
Lastly there are a few settings in cloudflare that we will need to check on
Under SSL certificate tab make sure your domain is using full ssl
Under that same tab make sure Always use HTTPS is turned on

This should complete your setup. if you clear caches or open your custom domain incognito it should go to your swell account and should be secure.
